Sclerotherapy: At a Glance

What does Sclerotherapy treat?

Telangiectatic spider veins and reticular veins on the legs and ankles.

How does Sclerotherapy work?

A sclerosing agent is injected into targeted veins, irritating the inner lining so the vessel closes and fades.

How long is a Sclerotherapy session?

30–45 minutes

What is the downtime after Sclerotherapy?

Compression stockings for 5–7 days; immediate return to normal activities.

When will I see results from Sclerotherapy?

Veins fade over 4–8 weeks; often requires 2–3 sessions for optimal clearance.

How much does Sclerotherapy cost in Tampa?

$400–$700 per session.
Type I

Spider Veins

Fine red, blue, or purple veins visible on the surface of the skin, most commonly on the legs and ankles.

Type II

Reticular Veins

Slightly larger blue-green veins that often "feed" clusters of spider veins. Treating these prevents recurrence.

Type III

Cosmetic Leg Veins

Visible veins on the legs causing cosmetic concern. Larger varicose veins may require referral to a vascular specialist.

Clinical Standard

Collapse & Clear.

A sclerosing solution is injected directly into the unwanted vein using an ultra-fine needle. The solution irritates the vessel lining, causing it to collapse, seal shut, and be reabsorbed by the body over the following weeks. The overlying skin clears as blood is rerouted through healthy veins.

The injections use ultra-fine needles and most patients describe only a mild stinging sensation. No anesthesia is required.

What is the downtime?

You can return to normal activity immediately. We recommend wearing compression stockings for 1-2 weeks and avoiding intense exercise for 48 hours.

When will I see results?

Spider veins typically fade within 3 to 6 weeks. Larger veins may take 3-4 months to fully resolve.
